U.S. Economic Downturn: Wireless Spending and Mobile Entertainment Implications
This study examines the implications of the economic downturn on the U.S. wireless industry generally, and then dives into potential 2H08 changing mobile entertainment consumption and spending habits specifically, based on an Internet survey of approximately 1,100 wireless adult consumers that was fielded in August 2008. Results are cut by age and gender.
"Macroeconomic instability is negatively impacting wireless content and entertainment spending as 2008 draws to a close," says Lewis Ward, research manager, Digital Marketplace: Mobile Media and Entertainment. "ARPU in these areas is likely to slip as consumers tighten their belts, and wireless service and content providers should adjust their strategies to account for these changing market realities."
