Does anyone know of any good biographies written on famous authors?

I need a biography written on an author for my english class and I don't know of any authors to do. I wanted to do Nicholas Sparks but there are no books written on him:( anyone know of any good biographies/autobiographies written on an author?

Depending on how your teacher wants to define "biography," Sparks' book Three Weeks With My Brother is biographical. A searingly good graphic novel/autobiography is Stitches: A Memoir by David Small. I highly recommend it. Another good choice is Looking Back by Lois Lowry, author of The Giver and the Anastasia books. Those are both YA.

There's a good biography of Roald Dahl out. He wrote Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Witches, and other books, as well as some dark stories for adults. He had a child seriously injured, another child died, was married to a famous actress who had a stroke-- a fascinating life. The book is called Storyteller and it's by Daniel Sturrock.
