The event was sponsored by the Ord Community Commissary and supported by the Presidio of Monterey Garrison, Family, Morale, Welfare and Recreation, Better Opportunities for Single Service members and Pinnacle.

I heard that alternate jurors have to appear in the court house everyday of the trial to find out whether they're needed for that day, or not. Most of the times they'll get dismissed. Sometimes, they'll have to sit-in for an official juror. Is this true?
And if an alternate juror finds out that s/he is dismissed for the day, does s/he still get paid for showing up?
*I know that the alternate juror system is different in every jurisdiction. But generally speaking, how does the system work?

Answer by blutic11 Alternates sit through the whole trial incase one or more of the regular jurors have to be excused because of illness, death, etc. They are dismissed when the case goes into jury deliberations. They get paid.
